Holy Crap!! They Turned Karofsky Gay!!

Kurtofsky - 10 Years Later…

*Kurt bumps into Dave Karofsky in the Lima Bean of all places 10 years after their senior year at McKinley.  He double takes to make sure that it’s him, but he doesn’t have to decide at Dave pulls him in for a tight hug*

Dave:  Oh my god!  Kurt Hummel!

Kurt:  *smiles into Dave’s shoulder*  It’s great to see you David!

*Dave let’s go and holds Kurt at arms length. Kurt blushes under the gaze of his former friend*

Dave:  *flustered*  Oh man.  Sorry.  I can’t stop looking at you  You haven’t changed a bit.

Kurt:  *smirks*  I’ll take that as a compliment.  Have you got time for a catch up?

*Dave nods as he gestures to an empty table and pulls out a chair for Kurt before sitting down opposite him*

Kurt:  Thanks.

Dave:  *grins widely*  So what happened to you getting out of Lima and never looking back?

Kurt:  *explains*  Finn just had a baby girl.  Thought I’d take time out from my busy schedule.

Dave:  *teases*  Let me guess, a New York Broadway star?

Kurt:  Actually no.  A Columbus one.  Been in a couple of big musicals actually.  I’m still working on New York, but hey it’s paid work.

Dave:  Kurt that’s amazing!  You’re living the dream!  I knew you’d do it.

Kurt:  *confesses*  Yeah.  It is kind of great.  What about you?

Dave:  *smugly*  Sports agent.

Kurt:  *eyes widen*  Please tell me there’s a kid and husband too.  I could call myself a psychic and rake in the money.

Dave:  *laughs*  Sorry.  You’re not a psychic.  Actually, I just got out of a relationship.

Kurt:  *nods*  Me too.

Dave:  Yeah?

Kurt:  *shakes his head*  No.  I don’t know why I just lied.  I’ve been single for a couple of years.  I think I just haven’t met the right guy.

Dave:  What about Blaine?

Kurt:  *expands*  We dated another year after I left, but it was long distance and hard.  And then he got into UCLA.  We were practically on opposite sides of the country.  But we stay in touch.  He just got engaged actually.

Dave:  Wow.

Kurt:  *asks*  Yeah.  So how about you?  Why are you back in Lima?

Dave:  Stopover to see my Dad.  Scouting a new kid.

*Kurt takes a sip of his coffee before clasping his hands together on table.  He takes a breath before saying what’s on his mind*

Kurt:  What happened to us?

Dave:  What do you mean?

Kurt:  *frowns*  At graduation we promised we’d keep in touch.

Dave:  *shrugs*  I guess life just got in the way.  We still emailed each other for over a year.  That’s something.

Kurt:  Yeah, but it wasn’t the same.  It was so formal.  I didn’t even tell you I broke up with Blaine because it felt like I wasn’t talking to a friend.

Dave:  *softly*  I’m sorry.

Kurt:  It’s not your fault.  It’s just I miss that bond that we used to have.

Dave:  *knowingly*  The way we just knew what each other was thinking with just one look.

Kurt:  Exactly!

Dave:  *thoughtfully*  We were just kids.  I don’t think I realised how important you were in my life until we left.  If it’s any consolation, not saying in touch was on of my biggest regrets.

Kurt:  Mine too.

Dave:  *sighs*  Okay.  I lied too.  My dad told me you were in Columbus a few months ago.  Your dad and he still talk every so often and-  He thought it might be nice to have an old friend nearby.

Kurt:  *confused*  Nearby?

Dave:  I’m working in the Ohio Office.  In Columbus?

Kurt:  *in disbelief*  We’ve been living in the same city for months and you didn’t try and find me?

Dave:  *makes a face*  I thought about it.  A lot.  Especially when I broke up with Zack.  But, then I thought what was the point?  You’re living you dream.  And I didn’t want to dredge up the past.  High school wasn’t exactly the best time for either of us.

Kurt:  *slightly hurt*  You didn’t think that I’d want to see you?  You don’t think that I wonder about you?

Dave:  *points out*  You could have looked me up.

Kurt:  *nods slowly*  I guess a part of me thought I wouldn’t fit into your new life.

Dave:  Kurt, after everything we’ve been through together, you’ll always fit in my life.

*They share a smile*

Kurt:  I can’t believe you live in Columbus.

Dave:  *sheepishly*  Yeah.  How long until you go back?

Kurt:  Next week.  You?

Dave:  Three days.  I hate to do this to you, but I should really get going.  I’m taking dad out for dinner.

*Dave gets up and Kurt does the same.  They hug tightly, neither really wanting the moment to end so soon.  Kurt peck’s Dave’s cheek before rummaging in his bag for his phone*

Kurt:  Can we meet up when we’re both back in the city?

*Kurt offers Dave his phone as Dave gives Kurt his.  They exchange numbers in silence before giving the phones back*

Dave:  I guess I’ll call you and arrange something?

Kurt:  *threatens emptily*  You better.  But now I have your number, I might give you a call.

Dave:  *grins one last time*  I’d like that.

Kurt:  *sincerely*  So would I.

*Dave turns to leave but changes his mind*

Dave:  *nervously*  Do you want to catch a movie tomorrow?  If you’re free?

Kurt:  *smiles*  I thought you’d never ask.
